HEADCOUNT SYSTEMS IL CONTROLLO DEI FLUSSI DI PERSONE E VEICOLI

LA TECNOLOGIA PER IL CONTROLLO FLUSSI, CONTAPERSONE, CONTAVEICOLI

Adhera is the exclusive distributor of Headcount Systems on the Italian market.

Nortech, the proprietor of the HeadCount Systems brand, is a company incorporated in 1969 and one of the world leaders in solutions for people and vehicle flow control and parking management. 90% of Nortech’s production is exported in 35 countries worldwide. HeadCount, a division of Nortech International, is specialised in the control and counting of people and vehicle flows.

HeadCount Systems was founded in 1994 for the purpose of measuring with a demonstrated precision of 97%, the flow of passengers in railway and subway stations and it now has hundreds of installations worldwide, especially in North America, Europe and Asia.

DETAILS

Advanteges

HeadCount Systems developed its retail counting solutions in consultation and around its customer’s exact requirements:
- Standalone
- Networked
- Integrated
The standalone retail solution was designed with single store owners in mind. The networked retail solution was designed with retail chains that require remote access to individual store data. The integrated retail solution was designed for shopping centre owners and managers who wish to extend their existing HeadCount counting network to cover all the retail store entrances at their shopping centre.

Think different

The retail chain solution is ideal for owners who require access to individual store performance data beyond simple sales statistics. More informed assessments are possible by measuring aspects such as store traffic, visitor occupancy, dwell time and when passage flow counts are known, peel off (capture rate).
HeadCount data can be easily replicated by using the HeadCount Communications Hub. Visitor traffic is then collated and stored centrally and made accessible securely to authorised users via WebIT, Executive Report or dedicated information feeds. For a retail group with many stores, tiered security allows users at various levels access to cascaded information.
Retail turnover information can be collected by Vista Sales and seamlessly integrated into the HeadCount system which creates new dimensions to the performance measurement and monitoring.
HeadCount data offers retail chain owners the following:
- Store traffic by hour, day, week, month and year.
- Retail store performance versus retail group benchmark.
- Measure advertising effectiveness.
- Schedule staffing levels more accurately.
- Understand retail store conversion rate, when sales information is collected.
- Know spend per head, when sales information is collected.
 - Compare store occupancy to trading hours.
 - Know dwell time (average stay) of visitors.

Technology

HeadCount technology employs a patented method of counting with artificial intelligence by means of an advanced pattern recognition engine.
Every HeadCount counting device contains an onboard neural network. A neural network is an emulation of the human brain in an electronic format.
Thus, if a person walks through the count zone the pattern generated by the sensors is sampled and then processed by the onboard neural network that has been trained to recognize the number of people passing by and in which direction.
A stimulus (in HeadCount’s case the pattern generated from the counter) is presented to the network which compares it to learned events, which when recognized, outputs a signal (in this case accurate counts of ‘in’ and ‘out’).
Training of the neural network involved “show and tell” conditioning of thousands of patterns which were recorded in various locations creating a representative a priori data set. The output result is obtained by neural calculation for each pattern presented.
HeadCount Systems values international standards as the minimum to aim for. Despite the guiding principle of not compromising on quality or specification to produce cheaper articles, the company's products are still competitively priced. It is our firm belief that consistent quality in products and service will outweigh expedient short cuts in the long term especially when it costs no more. We are proud to have been awarded ISO 9001:2000 accreditation for design and manufacturing of our electronic products.
In addition to this HeadCount has been patented in South Africa, Europe, Australia and the America's.

People and Vehicle Counting

People Counting

HeadCount Floor Mount Solution

In developing the HeadCount floor mounted counter the R&D team needed a device that could detect people’s movements without circumscription.
Different heights and sizes, light and shadow, speeds and direction have bedeviled traditional counting systems that are based on archaic means of detection.
The HeadCount team selected detection at ankle height where there is a great degree of commonality for all ages, sizes and shapes of human beings, and a lot more activity than, for example, a torso.
The greater the activity the more complex the detected patterns of movement, the more distinctive and accurate the opportunity for counting. The HeadCount counter has sensors that emit four laser-like infra-red beams across a defined count zone.
As a person walks through the count zone the pattern generated by the sensors is sampled. The pattern is then processed by the on board neural network that has been trained to recognize the number of people passing and in which direction. The system works irrespective of light or dark or temperature and even during power blackouts.
Features of the HeadCount floor mount solution are highlighted below:

- 96% accuracy on 2,400 movements per hour (shop net counter), 3,600 movements per hour (hybrid counter) and 4,800 movements per hour (train net counter).
- Overall accuracy up to 99% on daily totals.
- Bi-directional counts in both directions simultaneously.
- Count in light or dark ambient conditions.
- Single counter covers an entrance width of up to 10 meters (30 feet).
- Indoor and outdoor counting capability.
- Multiple uses - Store, anchor crossover, exterior, flow, main entrance, elevators, escalators.
- Built in diagnostics.
- Battery Backup in the event of network power loss.
- Low cost ring network reticulation saving on installation costs.

HeadCount Overhead Solution

The HeadCount Oculus overhead counter is the latest innovation from HeadCount. It is a highly accurate, cost effective and an aesthetically pleasing people counter. Oculus unobtrusively detects the motion of people utilizing a patented pattern recognition algorithm. Oculus is a monocular camera based system that captures video from an overhead viewpoint and processes it to count the people that pass through the count zone. The elegant design complements modern commercial and retail spaces. The overhead counter is ideal for narrow passages or store entrances with moderate visitor traffic flows where maximum performance is required.
Features of Oculus are highlighted below:

- 96% accuracy on 900 movements per hour.
- Bi-directional visitor counting.
- High accuracy, low cost.
- Non-intrusive and aesthetically pleasing device.
- Store, anchor crossover, flow, elevator and escalator counting.
- No PC required for standalone solution.
- Seamlessly integrated into HeadCount for networked solution.
- Immune to lighting level variation and floor surfaces.
- Powerful detection and pattern recognition algorithms.
- Single counter can cover a width of up to 4 meters (12 feet).
- Built in diagnostics.
- Battery Backup in the event of network power loss.
- Quick setup saving on installation costs.
